Novack and Macey attorneys Monte L. Mann and Matthew J. Singer recently secured dismissal of all claims against their client.
More than a year after the client resigned from his employment with an insurance agency, his former employer filed a lawsuit against him in the Circuit Court of Cook County. The former employer accused the client of breaching restrictive covenants in his employment agreement, violating fiduciary duties to the former employer, and tortiously interfering with the former employer’s contracts. The former employer also sought injunctive relief against the client.
Novack and Macey moved to dismiss the complaint, arguing that the former employer’s complaint suffered from fatal legal defects and failed to allege facts showing that the client did anything wrong. After full briefing and oral argument, the court agreed with Novack and Macey and dismissed the complaint in its entirety.
In the wake of the court’s decision, the former employer elected not to file an amended complaint, ensuring the client a full victory.
