Co-founders Steve Novack and Eric Macey have been named to the list of Top 100 Illinois Super Lawyers for 2012. They were selected by Super Lawyers, a rating service of lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. Lawyers named to the Top 100 are those who received the highest point totals in the Illinois nomination, research and review process. According to the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, there were nearly 89,000 attorneys in Illinois in 2011. This means the top 100 represent only about .112 percent of the total.
Other partners named as 2012 Super Lawyers are: P. Andrew Fleming, Monte Mann, Mitchell L. Marinello, Timothy J. Miller, John F. Shonkwiler and Donald A. Tarkington. Only five percent of the state’s lawyers earn this distinction.
The Super Lawyers organization also recognizes “Rising Stars,” who are selected based on peer nominations and independent research. To be eligible for inclusion, a candidate must be age 40 or younger or in practice for 10 years or less. Novack and Macey attorneys named as 2012 Rising Stars are: Andrew D. Campbell, Steven J. Ciszewski , Julie A. Johnston-Ahlen, Joshua E. Liebman, Andrew P. Shelby and Adam T. Waskowski. Fewer than 2.5 percent of all lawyers in Illinois are named Rising Stars.
