Steven J. Ciszewski

Novack and Macey LLP is proud to announce that our partner Steven J. Ciszewski, 39, has been selected as one of the 40 most talented young attorneys in Illinois. The “40 under Forty” honorees are selected each year by the Chicago Law Bulletin’s publishers and featured in a special supplement to the Chicago Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer magazine. PDF  

Mr. Ciszewski joined the firm in 2002 and was elevated to partner six years later at age 34. He has represented clients in commercial litigation, including partnership and real estate disputes, and employers in disputes arising from employee departures, including non-compete agreements. Mr. Ciszewski also has represented insurers and insureds in disputes about the scope and applicability of their coverage. He has defended professionals against malpractice claims, including lawyers and insurance brokers.

Mr. Ciszewski received a B.A. (Cum Laude) from the University of Illinois in 1995 and a J.D. (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Illinois College of Law in 1998, where he was a member of the Illinois’ National Moot Court Team and the Moot Court Board. He is a recipient of the Rickert Award for Excellence in Oral Advocacy and the American Jurisprudence Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy.

Mr. Ciszewski was recognized earlier this year as an Illinois Rising Star by Illinois Super Lawyers magazine. Steve volunteers at the University of Illinois College of Law as a judge on moot court panels for students. He also volunteers with the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA), and in 2011 was appointed to the Insurance Law Section Counsel. In that role, he provides input on the position the ISBA should take on insurance-related legislation being considered by the Illinois legislature. Mr. Ciszewski recently authored “The targeted tender doctrine: Where does it stand today?” an article published in the ISBA’s quarterly Insurance Law newsletter and he presented an ISBA continuing legal education (CLE) program on developing insurance issues in the intellectual property area.
