Novack and Macey attorneys Eric N. Macey, Julie Johnston-Ahlen and Matthew J. Singer won summary judgment on Sept. 30, 2016, for their clients, LLJ Retail Ventures 5, LLC and YGDAL, LLC.
The clients were the defendants in a dispute related to a large commercial space at the intersection of Clark Street and Lincoln Park West in Chicago. Link to Opinion. At issue was the interpretation of a lease of the space by PNC Bank.
The Circuit Court of Cook County agreed with Novack and Macey’s argument that the lease term “current year” was plain and unambiguous, concluding that the plaintiff’s position was “both illogical and contrary to any and all conventions of contract interpretation.”
